The Comforts of Tea

My new discovery - although one that has been a delight through the ages - is tea. I'll admit, I've dabbled in it a few times...at a friend's Christmas tea and periodic glasses of the iced variety. But I happened upon the store Teavana on a recent business trip to Dallas. After tasting a number of samples of their aromatic blends, I decided to embrace the concept as a way to add some health and calmness to my daily life.

I purchased a lovely two-cup ceramic teapot and 6 oz. of their White Ayurvedic Chai/Samurai Chai Mate blend, and brought them into my office. With the very first pot, it has been a treat for the senses. The sweet, spicy aroma wafts up with each sip and I feel both calmer and more energized (an interesting contradiction). I can't wait to try more varieties!

Farewell to Favre

Yesterday, Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre gave a press conference to officially mark his retirement. He spoke from the heart and as his voice quavered with emotion, it genuinely touched anyone who watched or listened. You could feel the true sense of loss he felt walking away from his first love and true passion. He exited the game in the manner he had always played it...with integrity, passion and honesty. Unlike many sports stars who are all flash and cash, Brett touched peoples' spirits. Yes, he set records with his laser-focused arm, but what will be remembered long after those records have been broken is a gentle man who gave himself unselfishly to the pure love of the game.
